FOR: a Picnic Supper and Star Party for new graduate students
—families & guests are welcome!
DATE: Saturday, August 22nd
6:00 p.m. – Picnic Supper
AT: Kitt Peak Observatory Picnic Area
TOUR: Are you interested in a tour of the Kitt Peak Observatories? Tours begin at 10 am, 11:30 am & 1:30 pm. You will be responsible for your own transportation. Visitors have to leave the observatory area by 4 pm. If you plan to attend the tour at 1:30 pm, be sure to take water and a snack—you'll get hungry before the food arrives for the picnic supper at 6 p.m.!
TRANSPORTATION: You can carpool or take the University vans that leave OSC promptly at 4:00 p.m. If you plan to use the University vans, please sign up in the Academic Programs Office, Room 403 by 5:00 p.m. Thursday, August 20th!
DIRECTIONS: Fill your tank with gas! Drive south on Campbell Avenue and take the Ajo Way exit heading west into the sunset on Highway 86. Watch for the signs to Kitt Peak - 16 miles past “Three Points”. (Travel time is approximately one hour.)

Weather in the mountains is unpredictable. It may get chilly after the sun goes down and it may even rain! The picnic area is beautiful, and there is a great spot on the rocks to view the sunset. Be prepared with sturdy shoes, a jacket, an umbrella and a flashlight!
