Optical Sciences Industrial Affiliates were invited to participate in our 2008
Workshop.
The
purpose of the annual workshop is to facilitate the gathering of students,
faculty and industry where we highlight significant and interesting research
projects while also creating an environment of idea exchange and professional
interaction.
 We proudly showcase the talents of our graduate and undergraduate
students who conduct presentations which are overseen and led by their
accomplished professors and advisors. Within this context we solicit input from
our industry partners about how we can better serve our students in preparing
them for careers in optics, discuss how we might improve our academic program to
serve the growing demand of industry, and seek feedback on how to improve the
benefits of the workshop.
 New this year: An Affiliates Table Top Showcase, organized
for the evening of Monday, March 3, was pronounced a "roaring success" by
participants.
Student interviews and company presentations:
A record number of
companies remained at Optical Sciences after the close of the Workshop to
interview prospective employees and/or present company information to students
approaching graduation.
