Employment

  • The University of Arizona: Optical Sciences, Professor, 2005-date; Associate Professor, 2000-2005; Assistant Professor, 1994-2000; Assistant Research Professor, 1993-1994; Associate Research Scientist, 1992-1993; Research Associate, 1989-199; Department of Physics, Professor, 2005-date; Associate Professor, 2004-2005.

Research

  • Theoretical investigations of the optical properties of semiconductor structures and modeling of semiconductor lasers. Our  fundamental theoretical investigations of semiconductors are based on microscopic quantum-mechanical many-body theories and include ultrafast nonlinear optical processes in bulk semiconductors and quantum-well structures. Recent examples of research projects include electromagnetically-induced transparency and identification of Raman coherences  in semiconductor quantum wells and four-wave mixing in semiconductor microcavities.
