FINAL EXAM:

Problem 5 parts (d) and (e) should read:

d.) ... overlaps the m = 2 order of the l = 1 mm component?

e.)  ... between the wavelength found in (d) and l = 1 mm  ...

***************************************************

5/7/05

FINAL EXAM:

Problem 3 has a missing j in the exponent of the point source field.

***************************************************

4/28/05

The final exam will be a 48-hour take-home exam.  You will be

able to pick up the exam from room 642 starting at 4:00 pm on

Friday, May 6.  If you choose to work the exam over the weekend,

you must drop it off under my office door (room 640) by 5:00 pm

on Sunday evening, May 8.  The last time to pick up the exam is

5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 11.  You can

use any reference material you like, except another person.

***************************************************

4/28/05

EXAM 2 REWORK:  You can rework missed problems from

Exam 2 and turn them in to me for partial credit.  The procedure

is to completely rework each missed problem, showing all of your

work.  Then, turn in the reworked problems with your original

exam to me by class time on Tuesday, May 3.  If the problem is

reworked correctly, you will receive credit for half of the missed

points.

***************************************************

Test 2 Results:

AVG = 66.9

STD = 16.4

***************************************************

4/08/05

For Exam 2, you can use two pages of notes for the otherwise

closed-book exam.  Use only one side of each page.

***************************************************

4/06/05

Exam 2 will be given on April 19.  It will be an in-class exam

covering Sections 8-13 and part of Section 7.

***************************************************

3/10/05

If you scored lower than 80% on Test 1, I will give

you the opportunity for some extra credit.  If interested, please

write me an email.

***************************************************

The corrected Figure 6.3 is shown below.

***************************************************

03/08/05

Sorry about the late posting of HW 7.  There are only two

problems due on FRIDAY.

02/28/05

REMINDER:  We will have a guest lecture tomorrow by Prof.

Jim Wyant over Chapter 9.

***************************************************

02/28/05

REMINDER:  Test 1 will be given this Thursday in class.  It will cover

Sections 1-7, through Slide 7-13 (Scanning FP).  You can bring

one page of notes on a regular paper, single side.

***************************************************

Please see the update to slide 3B-9 as shown below:

***************************************************

02/18/05

Test 1 will be given on MARCH 3 (NOT March 1, as is listed

in the schedule).  It will be closed notes, except for one side of

an 8.5x11" paper and your calculator.

***************************************************

02/18/05

I will be on travel Feb 28-March4, so see me next week (Feb 21-

25) if you have any questions before the test.

***************************************************

02/04/05

The old notes have been removed from Chapter 5.

***************************************************

02/04/05   You can

check out HW solutions in Pat Gransie's office (Room 642) the

day after you turn in the HW sets.  You should copy the solutions

and return the originals to Pat's office within one hour.

***************************************************

02/2/05b

I am sorry, but I accidentally put older notes in Chapter 5.  The

older notes are labeled with 'Part A'.  The newer notes are now

posted correctly.

***************************************************

HW 1 typos: (If you downloaded the HW before 1/15/05)

1.)  cyl(x) is the same as circ(x)

2.) In problem 4c, it should read:
