Patrick T. Ryan
May 7, 1964 - June 23, 2006

 

Soft-spoken Pat Ryan, OSC MS 1994 and PhD 1996, was killed in a car accident while driving home from a run on Sandia Peak near Albuquerque, New Mexico.  He is survived by his wife, Kadine and by their sons, Nicholas, age 2, and Samuel, age 1.  Pat was with the Air Force at the time of his graduation from Optical Sciences and was subsequently employed by SAIC on the Starfire Optical Range at Kirtland Air Force Base. Both Pat and Kadine were members of the Albuquerque Road Runners, where Pat served as club handicap coordinator.  Arrangements for services are pending.

This position offers the potential to be part of a world class team and drive advanced optical thin film development through design, modeling, simulation, process development, fabrication, and measurement. Summer Intern/Drafter.  Manufacturing & Research, Inc.  (MRI).  MRI (Manufacturing & Research, Inc.) Vice President of Engineering Services.  Breault Research Organization.  Summary:  Secures engineering services contracts and directs and coordinates the activities of the optical engineering staff  and support groups by performing the following duties;  Determines and executes the strategic direction of the optical engineering services group activities and applications.  Participates as a member of the management committee in the strategic short term and long term planning for the overall organization.  Solicits, proposes and secures consulting contracts with customers for engineering services.  At times making on-site customer visit.  Designs and analyzes unique, complex optical systems using optical programming languages.  Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.  Forecasts operating cost of department and direct preparation of budget requests.  Manages projected revenues and operating expenses based upon approved budgets.  Establishes, implements and maintains tracking and reporting processes.  Provides weekly Engineering Service status reports to the President and/or CEO.  Prepares monthly and annual revenue/cost projections for management committee review.  Provides monthly Optical Engineering reports to consulting clients.  Manufacturing:  Establishes goals, scope, approach, schedules and headcount to accomplish objectives and programs in timely and cost efficient manner.  Plans, organizes, directs, supervises and controls the activities of the EOS Team.   Will act as a mentor in following ESD, and Safety Work Practices.  Manages through the Project Engineer to insure completion of design, prototype and manufacturing of customer projects within budgetary and schedule guidelines.  Prepares,  presents,  and reviews departmental or project budgets and monitors performance of the EOS Team.  Evaluates technical progress of projects;
