Optics Camp

This week we have 21 high school students participating in a hands-on optics camp.  Following an introduction to optics, campers participate in in faculty and student designed segments on light sources, instruments, eyewear, lasers, vision, art, organic LEDs, sound, photography, communication, medical optics, holograms, and more, much, much more.  The photographs below (thumbnails, actually, so please click for a larger image) show only a small portion of this year's summer activities.  Students, we hope to see you all again next year.

First Summer Study Session for Fall Prelims

Students, if you're planning to take prelims in September, Jim Burge and Scott Gibb are putting together some information that might interest you. First, they are creating a Web site specifically targeted to students who are preparing for prelims and second, they are offering students and faculty members an opportunity to organize prelim-related events from presentations and practices to parties.  The first event is scheduled for June 29.:  Jim Burge will work through a selection sample questions and will also discuss strategy.  Please visit their Web site at www.optics.arizona.edu/prelims/ for more information and to improve your chances of sailing through prelims with flying colors.
