Senior Electro-Optical Engineer. Lightfleet Corporation. Background Information: Lightfleet® Corporation is an emerging Pre-IPO growth company located in a suburb of Portland, Oregon. Lightfleet has invented and developed a new way of letting computers talk to each other using broadcast light. This invention, called Corowave™ technology, makes systems smaller, use less power, and do more work. The Corowave™ technology is a patented all-to-all broadcast optical capability that eliminates the congestion and contention that create internal bottlenecks in inter-processor communication that exist because of limitations in today’s point-to-point interconnect technologies. Customers using systems based on Lightfleet technology will see significant benefits from increased efficiency in computing performance and data throughput, as well as reduced power consumption. Technology: Corowave technology enables a new and innovative approach to system design, using a combination of patented optical light broadcast technology and industry-standard hardware, processors, and chipsets. Never before used in compute applications, this approach uses the data-carrying properties of modulated light as a high-bandwidth conduit inside the system to replace traditional hard-wired bus technology. The Lightfleet technology allows all processors in the system to communicate with all other processors simultaneously rather than serially. This patented all-to-all communication dramatically increases system bandwidth and throughput because significantly more data communication is happening at any given time. Put succinctly Lightfleet’s first product, an innovative form factor server, will be faster, smaller, lighter and will use significantly less energy than similar products which is of particular importance as the cost of electricity has become a top concern of many CIO’s and IT Managers. This technology will be manufactured on-site in the near future. Careers: Lightfleet is a fast growing, privately funded U.S. company located in Camas, Washington. Lightfleet is looking for talented, dynamic individuals with a passion for technology and a desire to be part of the next evolution of systems design. We offer competitive salaries, benefits for you and your dependents, and the ability to participate in the company’s growth through stock options.
