From Stella Hostetler.  Time sheets for pay period 12-15-08 through 12-28-08 are due by 9:00 a.m. on Monday 12-15-08.  (Yes, they are due on the first day of the pay period.)  Payday for this time sheet will be 12-23-08.  This time sheet should reflect the following:

 

Week 1: Regular work schedule

Week 2: Holidays on 12-24-08 and 12-25-08 and a holiday closure on 12-26-08

Zygo Corporation is a worldwide supplier of optical metrology instruments, precision optics, and electro-optical design and manufacturing services, serving customers in the semiconductor capital equipment and industrial markets.

 

Associate Applications Engineer.  Middlefield, Connecticut.  In this position you will work under general supervision and interface with customers regarding product operation and service in support of sales projects, new applications or modifications of existing products.  Specific responsibilities include conducting in house or on site product demonstrations with the support of ZYGO sales staff. You will also provide technical training and instruction to customers and potential customers in the use of our products. In addition, you will assist customers in making optimal use of ZYGO equipment through assisting with the design of test setups and application software. You will also troubleshoot product problems over the telephone and follow up with customers to be certain product or application problems have been resolved.  In this exciting role, you will also keep abreast of new industry developments, trends, techniques and applications in applicable industries. You will recommend to engineering and marketing for consideration those ideas that appear to have sufficient market potential. In addition, you will follow in detail the status of established products, their market potential and standing, and competitors' activities. You will also assess performance of products from a user's point of view.  A BS degree in a technology related major (Optics, EE, ME, Physics, etc.) is required. Related experience is a plus.  Knowledge of metrology, optics, or software is helpful.  Excellent customer interaction skills along with good written and oral communication skills are a must. In addition, you will assist customers in making optimal use of ZYGO equipment through assisting with the design of test setups and application software. You will document all special applications that may be useful to ZYGO customers in a form suitable for production as applications notes. You will also conduct in-house product demonstrations and in-house or on-site training sessions. In addition, you will train sales personnel in the use of ZYGO products. You will also review and contribute to product information for sales training, promotional literature and technical manuals. You will assist in the preparation of individual proposals, quotations, bids, and specifications on proposals for non-standard products.  In this exciting role, you will also keep abreast of new industry developments, trends, techniques and applications in applicable industries. In addition, you will recommend to engineering and marketing for consideration those ideas that appear to have sufficient market potential. You will follow in detail the status of established products, their market potential and standing, and competitor's activities. You will also assess the performance of products from a user's point of view.  This position requires a B.S. degree in a technology related major (optics, physics, EE, ME) and 3-5 years applicable experience. Knowledge of metrology, electronics and software is helpful. Experience with electronic instrumentation and microprocessors are desirable. Excellent customer interaction skills along with good written and oral communication skills are a must. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an as needed basis to set up demo equipment is required.
