Dean's Office

The dean of the College of Optical Sciences is ultimately responsible for sound fiscal management and administration of approved University of Arizona policies with respect to personnel, academic programs and sponsored projects. Faculty governance is important to the administration of academic programs and policies, and faculty committees are established to recommend policy and procedures.

Her areas of responsibility include:
  • Administrative Staff: managing of administrative associates
  • Colloquium Lecture Series: coordinating weekly lecture series
  • Conference Rooms: managing and troubleshooting
  • Dean's Office: scheduling appointments and meetings, providing telephone triage, performing faculty reviews and annual reports, writing confidential correspondence and miscellaneous reports
  • Dean’s Office Management and Appointed Staff: providing periodic support to directors in finance and administration, human resources, development, alumni and external relations and technology transfer
  • Faculty Affairs: processing promotions and tenures, adjunct and joint faculty appointments
  • Faculty Recruitment: providing administrative support to appointed chairs for faculty searches
  • Foundation Accounting: reporting gifts, maintaining donor lists
  • International Visa and Exchange Program: providing administrative support and guidance to international scholars and researchers with processing of petitions for H1 and J-1 visas as liaison to the Office of International Faculty and Scholars
  • Retail Merchandise: designing, ordering and maintaining inventory
  • Special Events: coordinating symposiums, special guests and dean-associated tours
