Position Highlights

The position serves as the tactical Finance and Operations (F&O) lead for the Wyant College of Optical Sciences. The Wyant College, with over $40M per year in revenue, is the premier optical sciences educational institution in the United States. The F&O Director (Administrative Operations Manager IV), reporting to the Associate Dean for Business Development and Administration, will be responsible for financial operations and supporting, as a member of the leadership team, budgeting and facilities planning for academic and research operations of the college. Within a relatively flat, lean and efficient organizational framework, the F&O Director (Administrative Operations Manager IV) will engage business functions across the university to initiate contracts and cross-organizational projects, and work to resolve operational challenges on behalf of the college faculty and staff with a specific emphasis on finance and facilities. The F&O Director (Administrative Operations Manager IV) also works with the Wyant College leadership team in formulation of Wyant College’s financial forecasts and operational reviews, preparing the relevant data required to provide understanding of the College financial trajectory and health. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides financial and operations leadership to the Wyant College leadership team supported by reliable data for planning, analysis, and execution;
  • Develop and maintain useful and timely UAccess analytics dashboards, agents and reports to continuously improve the Wyant College finance and
    operation functions;
  • In collaboration with the business office, FSO, and the college leadership team, develop policies and procedures for the Wyant College’s financial health and sustainability;
  • In consultation with the research office, develop operational run-rules for research operations across multiple compliance functions ensuring research operational excellence;
  • College lead for daily financial planning and analysis;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key administrative stakeholders across campus related to functional job duties;
  • Other administrative responsibilities include: Assisting with accounting functions as needed to support the business office, day-to-day facilities management;
  • Manage several direct reports with oversight of facilities and Wyant College Business Office responsible for payroll, accounting, rate studies, and university administrative computer applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field and a minimum of 9 years of experience in business operations in an academic, research, or service institution, including 5 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to effectively and professionally represent the college within the university.
  • UAccess Analytics Proficiency.
  • Demonstrated competency in administrative decision making; fiscal planning and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Degree in Business, Economic, Finance, Public Policy a plus. Demonstrated experience in personnel management and teamwork.
