Drive company growth by leading the global Hardware Engineering function to ensure that the company innovates and develops best-in-class instruments that meet customer needs. The role is responsible for managing the efforts of a hardware development team.

Provide sound decision making for engineering and product development, sensitive to the constraints and needs of the business.
Manage the engineering group’s schedules, ensuring appropriate adequate support for key products development efforts and verticals.
Manage joint development with 3rd party vendors and manages outsourced development relationships.
Drive overall architecture, security and certifications of products. Be responsible for QA, support, technical writing and development. Plan for dependencies between multiple applications.
Monitor technology trends such as emerging standards for new technology opportunities.
Develop and execute engineering test plans.
Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples
Ensure, and create as needed, engineering processes, practices and operations to ensure reproducible development and high quality, while keeping costs under control.
Engage in hands-on, in-depth analysis, review and design of the hardware, including technical review and analysis. Will include reviews of in-house developed products, as well as review of technologies provided by 3rd party vendors.
Drive hiring, performance review processes and goal setting for engineering teams.
Communicate development status to the Executive Leadership Team.
Participates in the hardware development budgeting process.
Work closely with Manufacturing to transfer products into production
Mentor and guide technical personnel
Work closely with Quality to resolve quality issues

Desired Skills and Experience
Technical undergraduate degree (e.g. Engineering, Mathematics, Computer science)
Scientific/lab Instrumentation development experience a must
15+ years’ experience managing an engineering development team (ideally multi-locational and multi-cultural) demonstrating a very strong understanding of processes and procedural controls.
Experience with embedded microprocessor, firmware, PCB, mechanical design in consumer and industrial products.
A record of successfully simultaneously delivering multiple product releases on-time and within budget.
Experience with the development lifecycle of scientific applications
Strong leadership, project management skills, time management and problem solving skills.
A record of successful delivery of products as an individual, team leader and or/ development manager. Will be both technically competent as well as have market understanding.
Ability to work with technical and non-technical owners to get things done.
Must be flexible and adaptable to changing requirements
Innovative and out of box thinker
Strong team player able to work effectively with other functional leaders to execute on the needs of the company.
Experience in executing Process Improvement initiatives within an R & D environment.
