Northrop Grumman is looking for an entry-level Optical Engineer/Scientist interested in developing and integrating electro-optical/laser remote sensing systems onto military aircraft. The qualified applicant will become part of the Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector in the Electronics and Payloads (E&P) directorate.

Northrop Grumman is a leading developer and manufacturer of military aircraft systems including the B-2 stealth bomber, Global Hawk unmanned aircraft and multiple other advanced air platforms

Come join our electro-optics sensor team located in beautiful Melbourne, FL where you will have the opportunity to develop the latest state-of-the-art sensor systems on advanced air platforms!

Responsibilities include supporting the sensor team in developing sensor requirements, sensor designs, modeling and predictive sensor performance analysis, working with material suppliers, and testing sensor performance in a laboratory environment and on the aircraft during flight testing. You will be mentored and guided in your role by experienced optical engineers and will be part of an integrated product team working closely with other engineering disciplines to produce the sensor systems and integration into air platforms. Basic Qualifications:
• Candidates must be a new or recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related science, technology, engineering discipline
• Coursework in optics, radiometry, detectors, or lasers
• Hands-on experience in an optics laboratory
• Candidates must have the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a requirement)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Relevant academic project or previous internship experience coding in MATLAB or MATHCAD
• Experience in Optical design, modeling, or image processing software products such as Zemax, FRED, ASAP, or ENVI
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Position prefers a candidate with a current secret clearance
