Job Description Lockheed Martin's Optical Payload Center of Excellence is seeking a full spectrum leader in the area of optical payload to support integrated end-to-end EO product development for Space Systems Company. Key aspects of this position will include EO roadmap development and maintenance, IRAD planning and execution, coordination with external and internal customers, support program reviews and independent review boards, functional management with expected team size of 10-25 people, and leading staffing and hiring activities. Duties will include coordination across functional areas and lines of business to help implementation of our common architectures and common products to improve cost and schedule of optical payload offerings. 

Basic Qualifications

  • 9+ years experience in electro-optic technology or an electro-optics product development environment. 
  • Technical depth in at least one area associated with optical products (examples: optical design, optomechanical, STOP analysis, focal planes, ROICs, calibration, thermal control systems, signal processing) 
  • Strong systems engineering skills (system integration, interfaces, performance analysis, etc.) 
  • Technical leadership requiring collaboration across multidisciplinary teams 
  • Program planning or proposal development experience 

Typical Minimums

Appropriate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment. 

Desired skills

  • Advanced degree highly desired 
  • Knowledge of space hardware requirements, qualification process, and testing 
  • Experience with product development for industry or commercial customers with Design for X requirements 
  • IRAD management experience 
  • Work experience in a R&D environment 
  • Technical and programmatic experience with subcontractors 
  • Familiarity with integration, test and verification of sensor systems and/or electronics 
  • Generation of specifications and interface control documentation experience 
  • CPE or CPE Delegate experience 
  • CAM experience 
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
