Position: Engineer Intern
Department: Engineering
Reports To: R&D Manager (Barrington or Tucson)
Classification: PT, Non-Exempt
Brief Summary:
The Engineer Intern position presents the student with a hands-on opportunities to assist R&D, Sales, Product Marketing, and/or Marketing communications to create technical content, perform product tests, research product applications, and to evaluate the feasibility study of new designs.
Essential Functions & Requirements:
• Assist in the development of optical performance and system test and test devices
• Participate in the quoting process
• Evaluate and troubleshoot optomechanical assemblies or optical fabrication processes
• Develop assembly, fabrication and test procedures
• Evaluate and improve new manufacturing and production processes
• Create technical content - both articles and video scripts to clarify product functionality
• Research product applications to generate technical content
• Assist in the development of product presentations for the web and catalog
• Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Computer skills; PC literacy in Excel, Word, Access, Act, & optical/mechanical design software
• ISO/ANSI Drawing Standards
• GD&T Drawing Standards
• Understanding and utilization of safe packaging guidelines
• Basic computer skills – working knowledge of Outlook and Excel
