- Classification: PT, Non-Exempt
The Engineer Intern position presents the student with a hands-on opportunity to assist in the evaluation and feasibility study of new designs.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the development of optical performance and system test and test devices
- Participate in the quoting process
- Evaluate and troubleshoot optomechanical assemblies or optical fabrication processes
- Develop assembly, fabrication and test procedures
- Evaluate and assist in new processes
- Investigate improvements to existing manufacturing processes
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations

Required Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Computer skills; PC literacy in Excel, Word, Access, Act, & optical/mechanical design software
- ISO/ANSI Drawing Standards
- GD&T Drawing Standards
- Understanding and utilization of safe packaging guidelines
- Basic computer skills – working knowledge of Outlook and Excel
Other Requirements:
- Work overtime as required
- Other requirements as determined by management
Required Education/Experience:
- Working towards an Engineering or Physics Degree
Physical Requirements:
- Occasionally lifts, carries, or moves objects up to 50 pounds; Adequate manual dexterity to perform duties; work in office and/or lab environment.
