Engineer Intern | Edmund Optics

The Engineer Intern position presents the student with a hands-on opportunity to assist in the evaluation and feasibility study of new designs.

Essential Functions:

• Assist in the development of optical performance and system test and test devices
• Participate in the quoting process
• Evaluate and troubleshoot optomechanical assemblies or optical fabrication processes
• Develop assembly, fabrication and test procedures
• Evaluate and assist in new processes
• Investigate improvements to existing manufacturing processes
• Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Computer skills; PC literacy in Excel, Word, Access, Act, & optical/mechanical design software
• ISO/ANSI Drawing Standards
• GD&T Drawing Standards
• Understanding and utilization of safe packaging guidelines
• Basic computer skills –  working knowledge of Outlook and Excel

Other Requirements:

• Work overtime as required
• Other requirements as determined by management 

Required Education/Experience:

• Working towards an Engineering or Physics Degree

Physical Requirements:

• Occasionally lifts, carries, or moves objects up to 50 pounds; Adequate manual dexterity to perform duties; work in office and/or lab environment.
