Engineering Manager
Edmund Optics is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our general engineering efforts at our Design Center in Tucson, AZ. This is an exciting time for Edmund as we are investing in new manufacturing technologies and growing our engineering teams at both our domestic and foreign facilities. The ideal candidate will be a passionate engineer who will take the engineering team at Edmund to the next level through strengthening our engineering team, improving overall efficiency, and general engineering direction. The Engineering Manager will oversee overall resource allocation, the expansion of the Engineering Leadership Program, university recruitment and the expansion of our corporate R&D capabilities. Essential Functions:
 Manage a small team of technical staff including engineers, researchers and/or interns
 Determine need for additional resources, conduct interviews and select personnel to meet Edmund’s growing needs while maintaining the Edmund’s strong core values
 Lead the development and planning of expanding our corporate R&D capabilities.
 Lead mentoring efforts of young engineers through management new hires as well as indirect management of the Tucson Product Support Group
 Serve as the University liaison; building recruiting ties, leading capstone projects and enhancing company exposure to students
 Support internal technical training efforts that grow the skillset and capabilities of the engineering team
 Attend external training and seminars to further the technical exposure of the company
 Provide management with technical tradeoffs and risks pertaining to project work as well as general engineering efforts such that management may make informed decisions
 Function as Project Manager, Project Leader or Senior Engineer on specific projects as needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
 Passionate manager dedicated to providing team with the tools required to succeed
 Highly organized, effective at communicating technical data and understanding of document control procedures
 Excellent project management, risk assessment and resource allocation skills
 Great communication, organization, and math skills
 Motivated and self-starter
 Minimum BS and in Physics or Optical Sciences or equivalent experience; 10 years experience in the optics industry
