Job Description: 
The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Electrophysics Engineer/Scientist to design, integrate and maintain electro-optical systems at the Maui Space Surveillance Complex.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work with lead optical engineer, systems engineer and the customer to establish requirements, design, procure, assemble, test and maintain various optical and electro-optical systems such as lenses, telescopes, visible and infrared sensor systems.
  • This position is located at the Maui Space Surveillance Complex located in Haleakala, Hawaii.

Typical Education / Experience: 
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
This position requires the ability to obtain U.S. Interim Secret Security Clearance, pre-start for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. 
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor’s of Science with 5 years of experience or Master’s with 3 years of experience in one of the following fields: Physics, Engineering, Mathematics or Chemistry.
  • 3 or more years of experience in electro-optical design and analysis using Zemax, CodeV or an equivalent software design package.

 Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  •  Demonstrated industry experience designing optical systems using software like Zemax Optics Studio or Code V. 
  • Demonstrated hands on hardware experience with optical components and sensors to include cleanroom practices and handling of electro-static sensitive devices. 
  • Ability to work above 10,000 feet ASL is required.
  • Basic qualifications plus experience designing and integrating adaptive optical systems or high energy laser systems, opto-mechanical design experience, familiarity with Linux based operating systems.
  • Experience cleaning optical elements strongly desired.
