Job Description: 

Serves as Bench-level S&E, in the Electro-Optic Target Detection and Surveillance Branch, Multispectral Sensing and Detection Division, Sensors Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. Conducts primarily in-house research activities which advance the state-of-the-art in passive electro-optical imaging technology for improved warfighter capabilities at all traditional optical and infrared wavebands. Has experience in sensor optical design, optical instrumentation, opto-mechanics, testing, and system analysis. Conducts optical tests, evaluation, and research using state-of-the-art scientific equipment, imaging systems, and scientific and engineering principles. Publishes and briefs research results in appropriate technical proceedings, journals, and forums. Provides optical technical expertise and programmatic support to the branch. Interacts with uniformed military to refine research parameters and objectives. Represents organization as a focal point for specific program activities. Ensures programs meet program cost, performance and schedule objectives. Provides expert participation and leadership on teams. Manages contracted programs and directs in-house work efforts in the areas of optical design, engineering and test for hyperspectral, and persistent surveillance sensor systems. Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
