ABOUT THE ROLE:
We're seeking excellent Optical Engineers for optical system development at Fathom. Ideal candidates will have a deep knowledge of lens design and optical system setup and testing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be part of the optical system team at Fathom Computing
- Think outside the box to engineer paradigm-breaking optical systems
- Work with an interdisciplinary team building a complex system
- Conceive, design, and specify optical devices and subsystems
- Work with external vendors to fabricate custom optical devices meeting specified requirements.
- Experience in tolerance analysis
- Characterize optical device performance relative to design goals and broader system requirements.
- Interpret and reconcile empirical data with first-principles analytical and/or numerical simulations.
- Possess an expert-level knowledge of lens design, including relevant software (Zemax, CodeV, etc.)
Requirements
- 7+ years experience in optical engineering.
- Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of lens design and experience with tools like Zemax, Code V, LightTools, ASAP for imaging system design and analysis
- Able to perform comprehensive optical system characterization
- Deep and broad knowledge of both ray and wave optics
- Solid understanding of optical systems, coherence, laser and non-laser sources, measurement techniques
