The Optical Engineer II will be responsible for the design, development, manufacture, and test of complex laser systems operating in the UV/VIS/IR regions under stressing military and aerospace environments. Ideal candidates will have the ability to perform both design and hands on work in multiple laser technologies including but not limited to: semiconductor laser, fiber lasers, solid state lasers, non-linear optical materials and devices, optical benches, and beam directors.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work well in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment to define and analyze subsystem performance specifications and to ensure compliance to these specifications in operational environments. Ideally, the candidates will have technical knowledge of laser and laser based products. The ideal candidate will be focused on teamwork and have the ability to peacefully resolve conflicts on the team. Candidates must be able to interact well with team members. The candidate will be expected to develop solutions to problems which require the use of ingenuity and innovation.
Required Skills:
- Candidates MUST be eligible to obtain Secret DoD clearance
- B.S. in Physics, Optical Engineering, or equivalent with 2+ years of experience working with optical systems
Preferred Skills and Education:
- M.S. in Physics, Optical Engineering or equivalent is preferred
- Experience with optical alignment is desired
