Job Description: 

The candidate must have the follow qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years of industrial optical engineering
• Education: BS or higher degree in Optics, Physics, or
related engineering/numerical discipline.
• Demonstrable practical experience working with
prototype or production optical devices/modules.
• Experienced with developing and interpreting technical
optical system specifications and deriving flow-down
specifications to the optical component level.
• Strong optical design experience and ability to use
optical design software such as Zemax, TracePro or
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, and
experience generating technical reports.
• Facility with Word documents, PowerPoint presentations
and Excel spreadsheet programs.
• Strong numerical problem solving capabilities.
• Capable of supporting technical business development
• Ability to interface with multi-disciplinary team.
• Self-starting and approachable, enthusiastic but
practical in developing new technologies.
• Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S. (U.S.
Citizen / Green Card holders only).
The preferred candidate shall have the following
• SBG Labs will be particularly interested in applicants
with holography/diffractive optics experience.
• Experienced working on government SBIR R&D
programs, including proposal writing.

The primary responsibilities of the job include:
• ‘Hands on’ optical test, evaluation and debugging of
prototype and production hardware.
