Global leader in industrial instrumentation technology has an exciting opportunity for an Optical Engineer for their R&D center in Auburn Hills, MI.
The successful candidate will have a BS in Engineering or Physics, with an emphasis in optics or optical engineering; will have a good understanding and experience in traditional optical technology and metrology; will have experience in optical components manufacturing and optical device assembly and testing; the capability to program and run various CNC machines; strong hands-on capability and experience; knowledge of computer hardware and software; be motivated to gain understanding and experience in X-ray optics and active participation in the new solutions development and testing. The ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electronic systems will be a big plus.
The Optical Engineer’s duties will include:
- Assembly and testing of R&D proof-concept devices and prototype devices, including incoming components control, assembly and tests.
- Fabrication of components, parts, accessories and tools with traditional and modern optical technologies.
- Development and implementation of new technological and metrological procedures for optic fabrication.
- Development of concepts and draft procedures for new technologies and new processes.
- Developing concepts of technological accessories and supervise their design, fabrication, and -implementation.
- Supporting products transfer to Advanced Manufacturing with instructions and training along with providing the technical support to production activities.
- Providing guidelines and technical supports for X-ray tube testing and optic testing.
