Perform professional technical work which is specific in nature and requires knowledge and application of basic optical engineering principles, theories, and concepts to complete assignments under direct technical supervision.

1. Support the Product Design Team

  • Support senior engineering personnel in the development, testing, and selection of basic optical components utilizing fundamental optical engineering principles, theories, and techniques.
  • Assist in the design and development of specific optical modules or components to meet specified design requirements.
  • Assist in the design and development of measurement setups and procedures to verify optical performance.
  • Receive close direction and instruction from senior engineering staff.

2. Perform Optical Analyses

  • Obtain working knowledge of company standard analysis tools.
  • Perform basic analyses of optical systems.
  • Compile data for investigation by senior optical engineering personnel.

3. Support Verification/Validation of Design

  • Support the assembly, alignment and testing of design hardware.
  • Assist in the design and assembly of prototype hardware.
  • Support the testing of hardware.

4. Prepare Documentation

  • Generate and review the technical content of drawings, engineering specifications, reports and other documentation associated with the optical design.

5. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field of study from an accredited institution
  • Must have GPA of 3.0
  • Must have completed 30 hours of college coursework
