JOB DESCRIPTION

Playground helps new companies create great products, and to do that, we need great people. We are aiming to hire hardware engineers with expertise in camera and optics. At this role, you will work with portfolio companies to understand their product vision, define the best path to successful execution of that vision, and then make it happen. To achieve that you will:

  • Develop imaging and optics modules for new hardware products.
  • Perform DFM with vendors and improve the design and manufacturability of optics module and system.
  • Develop and implement image quality characterization and validation test plans. 
  • Bring your designs to mass production by defining and driving validation and factory test plans, at both the module vendors as well as the final product assembly vendors. 
  • Document engineering design, test, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Develop and manage image quality characterization lab. 
  • Work with imaging firmware engineers and tuning engineers to optimize imaging system.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline.
  • Proficiency in at least one optical design software package (e.g. Zemax, CODE V, LightTools, ASAP) is required.
  • Experience with high-volume optics and module manufacturing.
  • Experience in imaging/optics lab development and camera testing.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.
  • Energy and drive to work in a startup environment.
  • Ability to travel overseas for development and preparation for mass production.
