Ultra-thin active mirror technologies are currently under development in the Laboratory for future space telescopes. New mirrors concepts, manufacturing and testing are currently conducted in the Laboratory. Integration and testing of several active mirrors for a CubeSat demonstrator mission (AAReST: Autonomous Assembly of a Reconfigurable Space Telescope) is currently underway. More information can be found at the AAReST website: http://pellegrino.caltech.edu/aarest.html. Postdoc will be responsible for the optical aspects of AAReST and other ongoing activities. Strong experimental skills in optical testing are needed: optical set-up for mirror performance characterization, integration and testing of optical and electronics breadboards, adaptive optics, co-phasing of active mirror segments. In addition, experience in mirror control (hardware and software) will be helpful.
