Job Description: 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:This hands-on position is for a Principle Opto-Mechanical Engineer in our Navigation team and will perform the following activities:

  • Design optical modules with micro optical components
  • Develop tooling & fixtures for manufacturing and assembling
  • Perform FEA (thermal, vibrations and structural) to verify design performance
  • Support PCB layout and electronic packaging
  • Perform failure analysis and verification testing
  • Work with QA to ensure design meet industry standards
  • Complete projects within quality, budget and schedule requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION:• MS (PhD preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or Material Science.


  • 10+ years direct industry experiences
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SolidWorks and Simulation
  • Experience in geometric optics, pointing systems, gimbals, mounts, free space optics
  • Knowledge of FMEA, Thermoelectric Cooling (TEC) functionality and heat transfer, characterization, and thermal modeling is desired
  • Expert in applying GD&T
  • Experienced with PDM and drawing release processes
  • Experience with vendor management: Machine Shops, Die-Casting, Plating, Etc
  • Project management capability is desired
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience with optical telecommunication industry is preferred
  • Experience in miniature laser and optical product manufacturing is preferred
  • Experience of using ZeMAX and COMSOL is a plus
  • Experience with DFM for mass production is a plus
  • Understanding of modal Analysis, shock and vibes, structural analysis is a plus
