As a Senior Optical Engineer, you will help invent the future in conceiving, designing and developing innovative consumer products where optics play a central role. You will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary team to drive key aspects of optics definition, execution, test and delivery. Responsibilities include

  • Serve as the technical lead for designing and developing optical system and components
  • Design imaging and illumination systems using Zemax or similar tools
  • Take the design from concept to prototype and mass production
  • Work with cross-functional team to draft component specification, design reviews, work with vendors to manufacture parts and validate results by specifying test parameters and methodologies
  • Manage the technical relationship with optics vendors to deliver new optical components to the required specification and schedule
  • Perform hands-on bring-up, testing and troubleshooting of optics and associated control electronics


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics with 6+ years’ industry experience as a hardware engineer
  • Hands-on experience with hardware development and product integration
  • Strong analytical skill
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis on hardware and test stations
  • Proficiency with optics simulation software such as Zemax, ASAP, LightTools or similar
  • Ability to perform statistical data analysis
  • Proficiency with MATLAB, C/C++, or Python
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new engineering concepts and test methods
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and diverse technical environment
  • Ability to work independently when support is minimum
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results on technical projects


  • MS or PhD in optical, electrical, or mechanical engineering with 3+ years’ industry experience
  • Hands-on experience with camera hardware system development
  • Strong metrics and operational excellence focus
  • Technical aptitude to quickly grasp complex technical issues and communicate directly with technical teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams
