Job Description: 

Mahr has over 150 years’ experience in manufacturing dimensional metrology tools from handheld gages to advanced measurement systems for form, contour, surface finish and length. Mahr produces custom engineered gages and provides calibration and contact measurement services. Mahr also provides optical metrology solutions for astronomical, aerospace, automotive, and optical production applications.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide software support for development of precision optical instrumentation. 
  • Help to maintain existing code base (bug fixes, implementation of new functionality, etc.)
  • Write clean readable code and debug complex programming problems. 
  • Participate in design reviews and new product development activities. 

Job Requirements: 

  • Excellent knowledge and experience in software development with C++ 
  • Proficiency MS Visual Studio, Git, Qt, and MFC.
  • Experience in agile software development methods (ie: SCRUM)
  • Experience with parallel programming. 
  • Knowledge of optics, sensor technologies or experimental physics is preferred. 
  • Experience with Control Systems (servo, stepper, robotics) is a plus. 
  • Experience with image processing using a popular image processing toolkit such as Halcon, MIL, Cognex, IPP, or OpenCV is a plus. 
  • Clear written and verbal communications skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail. 
  • Structured, meticulous and reliable work habits with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines, while effectively managing priorities and communicating progress. 
  • Ability to work efficiently in a small team environment across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines. 
  • Willing to take on tasks outside of core expertise.
  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, computer science or related field.
