Candidate will work under general supervision to accomplish continuous improvement of calibration processes, including developing optical, radiometric, and laser calibration methods, procedures, and test systems, troubleshoot test systems and test equipment, and analyze test systems and error sources.

Typical tasks include:

  • Provide technical support to technicians calibrating and maintaining radiometric and laser test equipment and test systems 
  • Develop written and software calibration procedures 
  • Identify and analyze magnitude of error sources contributing to measurement uncertainty 
  • Develop measurement data analysis tools 
  • Perform data analysis of radiometric and laser measurement data 
  • Develop calibration methods, processes, and capabilities 
  • Review and approve Test Error Analysis Reports and Test Position Manuals

Required skills:

  • Minimum 2 years engineering experience in calibration, product test, or field service with emphasis on compliance with quality requirements 
  • Ability to provide solutions to technical problems in measurement and calibration 
  • Working knowledge of desktop computer and Microsoft Office applications 
  • Team player with good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills 
  • Self starter with ability to manage personal workload and meet assigned deadlines 
  • Customer focused and driven to meet or exceed expectations 
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance

Desired skills:

  • Optics, Radiometry, and Laser experience 
  • Optical / electrical / mechanical lab experience 
  • Data analysis tools such as MatLab and MathCad 
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing test equipment and test systems 
  • Software development in BASIC, LabVIEW, C, or Python 
  • Knowledge of calibration quality standards 
  • Active DoD Secret clearance 

Required Education (including Major):

  • BS in Optical Engineering, Physics – Applied or General, Electrical Engineering, or Electrical / Electronic Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited curriculum with minimum 3.0 GPA.

Note: This position can be Salary Grade E02 – Systems Engineer II or Salary Grade E03 – Sr. Systems Engineer I based on applicant’s education and experience.

This position requires eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO) handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations, and drug involvement. Employment is contingent on other factors, including but not limited to, background checks and drug screens.
