Job Description: 

Primary Responsibility:
Specializes in optical component fabrication and/or thin films process technology. Uses Lean Manufacturing philosophy & statistical control methodologies to develop equipment and process capability. Standardizes documented processes, procedures, and controls for manufacturing operations. Provides sustaining process engineering support in alignment with factory objectives for safety, quality and output.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Acts as technical subject matter expert (SME) for optical component fabrication and/or thin films processes. Provides process solutions to support customer requirements.
2. Partner with production managers, process engineers, and master opticians to ensure current process performance. Troubleshoots process quality excursions and equipment performance breakdowns. Evaluates and dispositions product issues in manufacturing resulting from process problems. Form and lead cross functional teams supporting the issues listed above.
3. Performs experiments to identify equipment and process stability and performance opportunities. Designs necessary equipment and procedural upgrades to improve processes, works with operations and facilities to implement process improvements.
4. Documents existing and new process procedures, trains operations on proper process execution and troubleshooting response.
5. Provide New Product Introduction (NPI) / new process technology support via early team integration with Product / R&D engineering. Promote & use engineering tools (FMEA, DFMEA, DOE, DFM, Functional Analysis, statistical tests) early on in product or process development cycle.
6. Mentor / coach junior engineers and/or technicians with skill development career direction.
7. Collaborate with finance, sales, and the rest of REO’s teams to achieve the best possible results for the company.
8. Partner with peers and executive management to create a vision, goals and specific deliverables to ensure REO’s future success.
1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Material Science.
2. Two plus years experience in Process Engineering or seven plus years of hands on experience with machining, manufacturing, prototype, or other production, plant, maintenance, or industrial work required.
3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
4. Statistical Analysis Software experience (JMP, StatIt, SigmaZone…etc.)
5. Demonstrated knowledge / experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
6. Demonstrated ability to form & lead cross functional teams. Develop & communicate team charter/goals/objectives & success indicators.
7. Demonstrated ability to mentor / coach junior engineers & technicians, i.e. skills development and career direction.
8. Optical Fabrication and/or Thin films experience a plus.
