Cube FAQ's

Who: Cubicles are for graduate students who have not yet been allotted space by a research group

Where: They are located in rooms 515, 615, and 648 of the Optics Building

How: Have a look at the three rooms and sign-up on this website, with your choice of room (if any).  Cubicle preferences can only be given to students that have had a previous cubicle

Keys: Are no longer offered for the cubicles

Security: There is none; you are responsible for all of your belongings at all times

Rules: Rules are formulated and applied on an ad hoc basis. Consideration is the key. Consider those who are trying to work as you talk on your cell phone; consider those who come after you when you are done microwaving your lunch; and consider the maintenance staff, whose duties are limited to emptying the trashcans once a week. There is no rule against messy desks, as long as your debris does not stink or impede the flow of traffic.

Internet: Wireless connection is available throughout the building as well as very limited wired connections. Optical Sciences uses the UA wireless network; register online at http://www.optics.arizona.edu/helpdesk/wireless.htm. You are also welcome to contact the Technology Management Group in room 431

Electrical Connections: One outlet is provided at each desk. The use of multiple outlet power strips is discouraged, but fused surge protectors are okay
