The college receives funds from four sources: student tuition, state appropriations, collaborative research and private support. Although tuition and state monies provide a portion of the our operating budget, they do not cover the average cost to educate a full-time student. These funds also do not cover endowments, expansions to classrooms, faculty offices or research labs and other capital projects. Private support from alumni, friends, and partnering corporations is necessary for the continued growth and success of both the University of Arizona and the College of Optical Sciences.

state-supported university, private gifts are critical to the academic
and research success and continued enrollment growth of the College of
Optical Sciences.
