Craft, Collaboration and Commercialization: Protecting Intellectual Property Rights

Drs. Steve Barone and Curtis Vock will present an overview of patent portfolio development approaches and licensing strategies to optimize protection and commercialization of intellectual property rights. Such situations often arise in inter-institutional collaborations, University start-ups, and sponsored research. For illustration, the discussion will utilize examples of successful commercialization of collaborative university research in various interdisciplinary fields. One such example will focus on a currently unfolding effort within the College of Optical Sciences in the field of medical imaging. Our own Dr. Harrison Barrett will provide introductory remarks about the technology.

Barone and Vock conduct a practice emphasizing intellectual property strategy, technology commercialization and portfolio management relating to technologies emerging from interfaces between the fields of chemistry, physics and the life sciences.

Lunch will be provided for all who RSVP in advance.
