    Alexandre Arnoult from the Laboratory for Analysis and Architecture of Systems (France) will present "In Situ Control of Growth in Molecular Beam Epitaxy."


    Molecular beam epitaxy machines are known for their ability to grow complex structures with rapidly changing materials and sharp interfaces between pure materials or alloys. From a grower's point of view, they are also unstable machines, which can lead to real nightmares when it comes to long and complex structures.

    Many techniques have been developed in order to monitor, and then control, as precisely as possible, the growth process in an MBE reactor. This talk will present an overview of the more used or more promising ones, such as optical flux monitoring.
