    Matthew Schwab, researcher in the department of relativistic laser physics at the Institute for Optics and Quantum Electronics (Germany) will present "High-Intensity Relativistic Optics at the Institute for Optics and Quantum Electronics in Jena, Germany." 

    Abstract(s): 

    This presentation will provide an overview of the high-intensity laser systems and recent research projects at the Institute for Optics and Quantum Electronics (Germany). Short descriptions of the two main laser systems at the institute will be given, including the all-solid-state pumped petawatt Polaris laser system and the 40-terawatt titanium:sapphire JETI laser system. Recent experiments and results involving these lasers will then be outlined, including laser-plasma-based ion acceleration with droplet and thin foil targets, laser-plasma-based electron acceleration using gas targets, characterization of betatron radiation and optical probing of laser wakefield acceleration.
