Allison Huff Accepts New Position with Health Sciences

    As of December 4th Dr. Allison Huff, Education and Workforce Development Director for AIM Photonics and previously Education & Outreach Director for the Center for Integrated Access Networks (CIAN), began her new position with the University of Arizona Health Sciences as a Research Scientist.

    After ten years with the College of Optical Sciences Allison has become an essential resource to both the college and the university as a whole. Spear-heading initiatives with the Native American population have made her grant proposals stand out and successful. 

    Now with the University of Arizona Health Sciences Allison will be focusing on biomedical and translational research in the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) Research Study. She will be working directly with the Assitant Vice President for Translational Research in Special Populations (AVPTR) and applying her unique skill set to future grants engaging Native Americans. Specifically, Allison will be leading the way for developing long-term relationships with the underserved poulation and minorities in Arizona.

    Allison currently has three active grants, among numerous other completed grants, including the Integrated Optics for Undergraduate Native Americans (IOU-NA) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU), the Optics Research Experience for Teachers in Native American Schools (O-RETINAS) Research Experience for Teachers (PI: Dr. Bob Norwood), and the NRT-IGE: Indigenous Graduate Education in Sceicne and Engineering - Southwest (IGESE-SW) all from the National Science Foundation.
