ARCS Scholarship Open for Applications

    Applications are now being accepted for the external 2022-2023 ARCS Foundation Graduate Scholarship and are due Oct. 1 by 5 p.m. Students are encouraged to apply. OSC has had past recipients per academic year for the last several years.  Please see below for scholarship details, including eligibility and application instructions.     • $10,500 stipend ($8,500 from ARCS and $2,000 from the UA Graduate College)
    • Full base graduate tuition from the UA Graduate College
    • $500 annual travel grant from the UA Graduate College.
    • Awarded student may concurrently hold a graduate assistantship.  If the graduate assistantship is .50 FTE, the tuition from the UA Graduate College will not be able to be used.

    Student Eligibility: 

    The ARCS Foundation specifically requests exceptional doctoral students working in the field of Agriculture, Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering, Astronomy, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Cancer Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Computer Science, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geo-engineering, Geology, Hydrology, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Neuroscience,Optical Science, Physics, Physiological Sciences, and Plant Sciences. The ARCS Foundation selection is based on the impact of the student’s research and individual ARCS Foundation donor interest.  Applicant requirements include::

    • U.S. citizen only (not permanent residents) (no exceptions)
    • Admitted to doctoral degree program
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher (no exceptions)
    • Well-developed research focus

    Student Application Instructions:

    1.  Submit a completed 2022-2023 ARCS Application Form (attached) to Mark Rodriguez via email by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 1, 2021.
    2.  Request that your faculty advisor submit a letter of recommendation directly to Mark Rodriguez via email by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 1, 2021. See Section4 of attached application form for letter requirements.

           ***Previous award recipients interested in reapplying must follow the applications instructions listed above to reapply.

    Review and Selection Process:

    All OSC applications will be evaluated by the OSC Scholarship Committee.  The top two ranked applications will be submitted as the College’s nominees to the UA Graduate College. OSC can only nominate two students to the UA Graduate College/ARCS Foundation for award consideration.  All applicants will be informed in early-October if they were selected as one of the OSC nominees.  ARCS/Graduate College will notify scholarship winners in early 2022.
