Saturday, March 9, marks the opening of the 2013 Tucson Festival of Books here at UA. As mentioned last week, the college is throwing its doors open to interested bibliophiles, offering hands-on demos and public talks by Dean Koch ("Frontiers in Optics at the College of Optical Sciences," at 1:30 p.m.) and Professor Greivenkamp ("Museum of Optics: A History of Telescopes and Binoculars," at 10:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.).

Over at the Physics and Atmospheric Sciences Building, you'll also find lectures by joint professors Arvinder Singh Sandhu ("Blasting Atoms with Attosecond Lasers," at 1, 2 and 3 p.m.) and Alexander D. Cronin ("How to Study Atoms That Can be in Two Places at Once at the Same Time," at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.), among others.

And from "Science of Sports" to "Space and Light," there will always be something to see at Science City, just north of Meinel on the Mall. Be sure to check their website for the full schedule.
