Burge Named Emeritus, Announces Retirement
Date Posted:
Thursday, October 27, 2016 After 26 years at the University of Arizona, Jim H. Burge has been promoted to Professor Emeritus of Optical Sciences and will be retiring after the fall semester.
Jim says that early retirement will allow him more time with his family, as well as the two companies he co-founded, Arizona Optical Metrology and Arizona Optical Systems. He will continue to teach Optomechanical Engineering courses through this fall, and hopes to maintain an active role in research and teaching at the Universtiy of Arizona.
Jim is also an alumnus of OSC, receiving his M.S. in 1990 and Ph.D. in 1993. He studied under advisers William L. Wolfe Jr. and J. Roger P. Angel.
Congratulations from all of us at the College of Optical Sciences, and we hope you continued success in your future endeavors!
