The Academic Programs office would like to introduce you all to Melissa Sarmiento Ayala, the new undergraduate and academic career adviser. Melissa hails from Rockford, Ill., though she and her family moved to Orlando, Fla., just after she completed high school. She's worked at the University for six years, starting in the benefits division of Human Resources. Her advising career commenced in 2007, when she began graduate studies in counseling. (She received her degree in May 2008.) Melissa enjoys spending free time with her husband, family and church; she is also a music aficionada and a jewelry-making hobbiest. She "is still on cloud nine," she says, after a tour of Europe with her husband this past summer.
