An exciting course you may consider taking this semester is the Optics Outreach OPTI 489/589: Learn how to get K-12 students excited about optical science and technology.

In this course, you will sharpen your skills at giving presentations and demonstrations in optics, contribute to our collection of optics outreach demos by improving existing ones, or develop something entirely new. Every week the class discusses, and demonstrates, many exciting topics in optical engineering such as different types of IR cameras, polarization, 3-D movie technology and the ever popular, Pepper’s Ghost. Your participation may inspire young students to start thinking about getting a degree in Optical Engineering, to pursue rewarding careers in many diverse fields involving optics. You will also get a free Optical Sciences polo shirt!

The spring semester course is on Wednesday, 11:00 – 11:50 PM, in the Meinel Optical Sciences Bldg., Room 432
