OSC Seniors Bring Home Engineering Design Day Awards

Engineering Design Day is quite simply the biggest event of the year at the College of Engineering, where hundreds of seniors, divided into interdiscipinary teams, present their captsone projects to industry judges and the general public. It is the culmination of nine months of project design, construction and testing, as well as honing teamwork, problem-solving and presentation skills. And it's no surprise that OSC undergraduates routinely perform well and win in this competitive atmosphere.

For 2016, our own Shawn Iles was part of the Raytheon Missile Systems Best Overall Design Award for their On-Slide Reagent Concentration Feedback and Control project. Sponsored by Ventanta Medical Systems, the team developed a noninvasive slide-staining technique using an infrared laser, semicondunctor sensor and graphical interface, and was awarded first-place and $2,000 for their efforts.

A big congratulations to all OSC seniors who were also awarded prizes, listed below. Photos of our OSC students and their teams are available online.
