Several OSC students were among those to receive named education scholarships supported all or in part by the society. SPIE has awarded $351,000 in education and travel scholarships this year to more than 135 outstanding students studying optics, photonics, imaging and related disciplines.

    • Dana Kralicek, a Dean's List recipient and spring 2016 graduate, was awarded the John Kiel Scholarship, and plans to continue her optical sciences and engineering education at Stanford.
    • Kaitlyn Williams graduated from OSC in the spring of 2016 and is also a Dean's List recipient. She was awarded the inaugural Teddi Laurin Scholarship, and will be working at Ratheon Missile Systems while pursuing her doctoral studies in solar engineering.
    • Ph.D. student Ross Uthoff was awarded the SPIE Optical Design and Engineering Scholarship. Ross' work focuses on developing mobile health biomedical instrumentation to improve sensing and diagnostics.
    • Alex Rodack, a M.S. student, was the recipient of the partially-SPIE funded College of Optical Sciences FoTO SPIE Graduate Student Endowed Scholarship in Optical Sciences. Rodack plans to continue his work at OSC as he pursues his Ph.D.

Congratulations to all of you! For more on these fantastic students and the SPIE scholarship program, see the official SPIE press release.
