Congratulations to Dr. Russell Chipman and his colleagues for the publication of their book: Polarized Light and Optical Systems.

Polarized Light and Optical Systems is a reference for the student, optical engineer and optical designer in issues related to building polarimeters, designing displays, and polarization critical optical systems. The central theme is a treatment of polarization elements as optical elements and optical elements as polarization elements, through its combination of the methods of polarization with the techniques of optical design.

Polarized Light and Optical Systems will be used as the textbook this fall for “Polarization in Optical Design” OPTI 586 (also available as a Distance Learning course) and in the spring for “Polarized Light and Polarimetry” OPTI 484/584. Polarized Light and Optical Systems is available from Amazon and from CRC Press.

Russell Chipman is a Professor of Optical Sciences and received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. Wai Sze Tiffany Lam and Garam Young are both Ph.D. graduates of Optical Sciences.
