    Science Foundation Arizona chose two B.S. in OSE-turned-Ph.D. students as 2013 graduate research fellows: Janelle Pilar, who plans to explore the "development of new medical-based technologies for measuring the health of the retina of the eye[,] the value being early detection and treatment of [...] issues such as glaucoma and macular degeneration"; and Elizabeth Swan, whose research includes the "study, design and development of advanced optical systems for applications such as the calibration systems for CCD cameras and telescopes."
