Superlative Staff: June 2017

Congratulations to Mark Rodriguez and Laura Ross, who were our June 2017 SPOT Recognition award winners! Mark was nominated by R. John Koshel, while Laura (also the 4th Quarter Peer-to-Peer 2015 award winner) was nominated by Justin Walker. Both received a plaque and a $50 gift certificate, and are now eligible for the employee of the year.

John says of Mark:

After the previous Academic Programs Finance & Operations Manager left for another career opportunity, Mark took over most of those responsibilities while also maintaining his Graduate Student Advisor position. He interviewed and obtained the vacated Manager position and still retained the duties of the Advisor position until a replacement was hired. To say the least, Mark has gone a million miles beyond the pale. Simply put, Mark stepped up and did what was required (and more) without having to be asked.

Justin says of Laura:

Laura routed a high priority proposal for the Optics Shop and got it approved, which usually takes 5-10 business days, in less than 24 hours. She went above and beyond to help the College broker an important program.
