University of Rochester Honorary Doctor of Science Bestowed on Jim Wyant

    Wyant College founding dean, Jim Wyant, was recently recognized for outstanding contributions as a leader, educator, and humanitarian by the University of Rochester when the university named him an Honorary Doctor of Science of 2021. Read the official announcement. 

    Among his many accomplishments the University of Rochester recognizes his contributions:

    Wyant has contributed to the life of the University of Rochester in many ways over several decades. He taught in the Institute of Optics Summer School from 1983 to 2015; served on the Board of Trustees from 2012 to 2017, after which he became a life trustee; and honored his former optics professor by establishing the M. Parker Givens Professorship in Optics.
