2014 Expect Academic Success in STEM Camp

Expect Academic Success in STEM paired the NSF Engineering Research Center for Integrated Access Networks with the Winslow Unified School District to introduce optics and photonics concepts to middle- and high-school Native American students.

The 2014 EASIS camp brought 19 enthusiastic students to the OSC campus. Although they deemed all the events their favorite, the technology dissection session stood out above the rest. In this activity, the students took apart electronics donated by OSC faculty, students and staff and discovered where optical components were located and what made them work.

With the support of OSC, SPIE and Fujitsu, along with faculty, staff and student volunteers, the week was a huge success!
