Phillips-Medisize, a Molex Company, is seeking an Optical Engineering Intern to join our team this upcoming Summer 2024 in Phoenix, AZ! Phillips-Medisize is an end-to-end provider of innovation, development and manufacturing solutions to the pharmaceutical, diagnostics and medical device industries.

As a part of our internship program, you will be connected to other interns at Molex/Koch locations across the United States. Engineering Interns are assigned to one of our many U.S. locations to help support innovation, process efficiency, product reliability, and quality assurance, with a large overarching focus on compliance, safety, and health.

What You Will Do

Some examples of responsibilities or projects include:

  • Analyze processes and procedures for potential process improvements. Recommend improvements and plan of action. Develop and execute Design of Experiments (DOE’s) as needed.
  • Make recommendations regarding equipment modifications. Design and select equipment. Participate in implementation and qualification. Report on results.
  • Perform tests and measurements on engineering or production projects. Collect, analyze data; prepare reports including results and conclusions as appropriate. Present and discuss results with supervisor, manufacturing, and/or engineering staff.
  • Troubleshoot process problems or measurement equipment; analyze optical, mechanical, or process problems and take corrective action within scope of responsibilities. Hands-on approach to troubleshooting and diagnosis of equipment operation problems, make adjustments, replace component parts, and arrange for external repairs.
  • Investigate new technical capabilities in effort to further enhance and improve the technical capabilities of the company.
  • Contribute to the design, fabrication, and validation of automation equipment for use in production.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Enrolled in an Optical or Mechanical engineering degree or alternative program (e.g., 2-year technical college program, certificate program, upskilling program, etc.)
  • Eligible for full time employment on or before Summer 2026.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Knowledge of optical fibers and test processes
  • LabVIEW
  • Automation design and associated software programming capability
