Optical Data Storage Center

ODSC, the Optical Data Storage Center, is the driving force behind a cooperative research program among faculty members, scientists and engineers at the College of Optical Sciences, the University of Arizona, EMC Corporation, General Electric Company, Hewlett-Packard Company, Industrial Technology Research, Iomega Corporation, LG Electronics Incorporated and Seagate.

Research topics include the study of recording materials, optical systems design, recording format and error handling, optical head designs, and the integration of waveguides, micro-optics, holographic and other novel optical elements, applications of nanotechnology to data storage and pioneering studies in the new field of biological data storage.
